Credit Unions Accept Need for Change
The vast majority if credit union directors and managers believe the movement must change in order to attract new members and face additional demands and challenges of the future.
A recent survey published stated that the majority of credit unions support greater co-operation and possible mergers. The conference held in Dublin was attended by credit union representatives from across the island of Ireland and also by international exports.
Additional findings of the survey stated the following aspects
90% of credit union managers and directors stated that they are extremely unhappy with the current leadership of the sector and believe they need to change their image to attract new members.
The majority of them support greater co operation within the movement and possible mergers and most of them feel that regulation is not a bad thing but should be implemented in accordance with the ethos of the sector.
90% of optimistic about the future
